A $10,000 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

• Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup granulated sugar. Mix well and let sit for at least 30 minutes to macerate.

  2. Make the Shortcakes:

     • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

     • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.

     • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

     • Add milk and vanilla extract; stir until just combined.

     • Drop 6 equal portions onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

     • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack.

  3. Whip the Cream: In a chilled bowl, beat heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

  4. Assemble the Shortcakes: Slice each shortcake in half horizontally. Spoon strawberries over the bottom half, add a dollop of whipped cream, and top with the other half of the shortcake. Serve immediately.
